Information for Parents

Career Services presents this page as a way for you, as the parent of a college student, to guide, suggest, or remind your SDSU student that there are ways to prepare for life after graduation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Career Fair?
A career fair is an event where your SDSU student can talk with employers informally about full-time career positions or internships. The fairs give exposure to companies that might not have "brand-name" recognition, but provide excellent opportunities. As with most things, students will get out of the fair what they put into it...the more prepared they are, the more they'll learn. Career Services offers a workshop on preparing for these events the day before each Fair. Have your child attend this prep session, too! Students can sign up for these and other workshops by logging into Aztec Career Connection.

What can I do to help?
Scroll down this page and click on the links for Choosing a Major, and on the different timelines. The more you know about what events are scheduled and when they occur, the more you can help us reinforce with your SDSU student what events they should be attending.

How can my company help?
You can encourage your company to attend SDSU Career Fairs, to participate in the On Campus Interview program, and present Employer Information Sessions. If your company is local, you can volunteer to do resume reviews, informational interviews, job shadowing, or provide internships for SDSU students!
