As of April 24, 2006, SDSU Career Services no longer processes new Placement File fees.

As of June 30, 2006, the Placement Files fax line (619-594-2371) will be disconnected.

 


School districts throughout California and the nation are developing web sites that post positions and allow for on-line applications. Many school districts are only accepting formal applications via the Internet as they move to a "paperless office" environment. In short, the use of Confidential Placement Files has significantly diminished and will continue to do so.

Career Services has explored the current practices both in the school districts and other universities throughout the state and finds that Self-Managed files are the most practical solution for teacher candidates. The advantages of Self-Managed files include:

  • The hiring process is expedited because all materials and references are in one mailing envelope.
  • Job applicants, once practiced in the process, can respond to posted positions more rapidly and at a lower cost.
  • Self maintained files allow the teacher candidate to hand-select and customize mailings for different positions.

As of October 1, 2003, Career Services moved to a self-managed placement file system for educators.
